Being entirely honest with oneself is a good exercise. - Sigmund Freud -
I lied to myself all the time. I told myself that I was supportive of friends, I cared about other people, and I was doing my best to be the best me possible.
Of course, none of that was true. I lied to myself to make myself feel better that I was not really a good person. I knew better. I knew I could be better. But I chose to take the easy way and be very self-centered and selfish.
Therapy didn't help me. It allowed me to go on and on and on to talk about myself and my problems. Actually, I think the therapist didn't want me to get better but just to come back for another chargeable session.
So what helped change me? One word, BabbleStash. I found the app while browsing the app store and it looked interesting to me. It said it had a series of categorized questions and was essentially an online voice diary.
I decided to try it. At first, it was a little strange recording into my phone. However, as I watched my words transcribed as I answered very personal questions, it allowed me to really look at myself for who I was and who I am.
I wanted to be better. I wanted to change. I decided the first step was, to be honest with myself and my intentions. After that one key pivotal decision, I found my life and my happiness drastically improved.
