Everything Looked Ugly to Me

Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it. - Confucius -

My acquaintances (I don't really have friends) often tell me that I can't see the forest for the trees. Maybe I am too self-involved. That's probably true. They also say I am hypercritical. That's probably true too. I rarely can see what's good and I always see the faults of everything. I didn't know or understand why it's was so hard for me to see what's good and overlook the bad.

My revelation happened when I turned the microscope on myself. I've tried to articulate my feelings to my acquaintances, but I've turned them all off to the point that no one would listen to me anymore. I tried to jot down my feelings in a diary, but it was just too hard for me to keep it up day after day.

I found the BabbleStash app in the app store since it said it was a "Voice Diary". It intrigued me and I wondered if it would be easier than keeping a paper journal.

To my surprise, it turned out to be much more than a voice diary. It had so many questions, that it was almost like a personality dissection. It challenged me to articulate my thoughts, my deep thoughts about everything. It challenged me to talk about myself, my family and my former friends. I realized that I was just very unhappy and depressed and I projected my feelings on everything I saw. Since I felt ugly and bad, everything I saw was ugly and bad. This became abundantly clear to me as I listened to my recordings and I saw the trend of what I said about everything.

Since I started recording on BabbleStash, things are now changing for me. Just this morning I saw a butterfly on a flower and instead of just walking by, I took the time to look and examine the beauty of the colors and the patterns. Yes, there is beauty in everything and I will try hard to make sure I can see it.

BabbleStash is a critically acclaimed iPhone app that captures the essence of people and lets them share it. Selfies, Snapchats, only express the visual moment; but not what people are truly thinking or feeling. BabbleStash uses scientifically tested questions to elicit feelings, memories, ideas, goals, and dreams and easily records the responses to either be kept secret or shared.
